PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM (PEIPNP) VISA

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program is designed to select individuals who appear to be suitable for immigration to Prince Edward Island. Applicants are nominated for permanent residence once it has been determined that they appear to fit the province’s unique economy and culture.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program expedites immigration for individuals and their families who meet provincial criteria and provides the fast-tracking of their applications for permanent residence.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program provides the following two categories for nomination.

The Skilled Worker Stream permits the nomination of an applicant with specialized skills and experience who fills a labor market needs in Prince Edward Island. In particular, there are currently openings for workers in aerospace, information technologies and bioscience, among others.

The skilled worker must:

• Obtain in the vicinity of 50 points on the Self Assessment form;
• Have a bona fide offer for paid employment at prevailing wage rates in their field of study/experience;
• Possess the education required training consistent with the position offered;
• Have a moderate command of English or French language; and
• Have the intention to settle on unique Prince Edward Island.

The Critical Worker Stream is a pilot program. There are five occupations selected for initial inclusion: truck drivers, customer service representatives, laborers, food & beverage servers, and housekeeping attendants

Successful applicants and holders of a Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program Visa become permanent residents of Canada. Permanent residents are entitled to live, work and study in Canada on a permanent basis.

Additional benefits of Canadian permanent residence include access to government-subsidized education and state-of-the-art healthcare (Medicare), as well as unrestricted access to Canada’s labor market and associated insurance and pension benefits. Permanent residents also have the ability to apply for Canadian citizenship and the opportunity to sponsor family members to join them in Canada
